I will courageously, bravely and happily soar the Himalayan skies as I Skydive Mount Everest because ABOVE its summit peak, at 29,500 feet, is one of the highest pinnacle altitudes that Skydivers have ever propelled themselves out of a perfectly good airplane and soared the skies!
To experience the environment, and to view the Himalayan mountaintops below you and clouds below the mountaintops, is to feel Supreme Serenity. It is a covenant of Peacefulness. Although I will skydive tandem it still feels as if I am alone and am in a place where, due to awareness, not many will be, and not many will see.
To see a part of this world, to fly outside comfort zones of known continents, and to be above a part of the world that is pristine and yet untouched by puzzled cityscapes is a Fortune Found. To trek up Mount Everest means that you must rely upon your body, and the abilities of others to guide you and transport your belongings, and nothing is at lightning speed. Everything must take its course of time, nothing can be rushed. To rush would be to risk sickness or death. To rely upon others, be they your crew, sherpas or yaks, is the functional framework of Teamwork necessary when seeking Mount Everest expeditions. All must work together and respect the culture, its people and its presence in time and patience in journey.
Yes, possibly in our lifetime, humankind in all our glory of technology and solution-driven magnificence may pave the way for people who want to Summit Mount Everest to simply get there via a super-sonic helicopter, but that has yet to evolve. Those that want to climb the world’s highest peak, climb Mount Everest! Honors to Sophia Danenburg, who was the First African American to Summit Mount Everest in 2006!
Those that want to soar, with care, caution and calm, the most extravagant of God's Masterpieces of Nature, Skydive Mount Everest!
What does it mean to be the 1st African American to place my mind, body and soul into the Trek, Altitudes and Freefall of this Masterful experience? Although I can only attest to my own personal ambitions, I do believe that each person wants to be a singular sensation, trend-setter, trailblazer, door-opener and/or energetic enabler for those that may have a dearth of Leaders, Hope-Setters, Hurdlers and Positiviters in their lives.
Mine is not a Rosa Parks mission. She was the one, whom by her sheer belief, and mere forty-two years of life, transformed all worlds!
It’s neither a Althea Gibson overhead smash, nor a Lena Horne symphony, nor a Mea Jemison galaxy, nor a Oprah Winfrey kaleidoscope, nor a Maya Angelo compass, nor a Michelle Obama threshold, nor a Naomi Ruth Sims cover, nor a Beverly Johnson vogue, nor a Tyra Banks trifecta, nor a Halle Berry storied statuette, nor a Jackie Steele baton. I have not broken down any barriers that were set in place, I am simply expanding a world that welcomes All Dreamers,
All Believers and All Doers.
No one person, place nor thing can cripple, confine nor cramp the style, substance and success of Your Dreams. Your Stage. Your Excellence. Your Quest. Your Quiet Hours. Those that love to pollute with hazardous hazes of negativity get shot-blocked & foul out when they attempt to obscure the Brilliant Brightness of God's Green Light!
As Owner, Coach and Player...God's Got Game!
Mustard-seed Faith can move Mountains!
Mustard-seed Faith will propel You Above Your Mount Everest!
If I nurture a seed of hope to thrive, or better yet, if I diminish doubt and remove a support-system-imposed-restriction of what can be achieved, then I not only land on my feet, I am proud and honored to have that child, young adult and/or seasoned adult share my Tandem Parachute and see the world from the Top Down versus the Down Up!!
In 1963, a mighty man marveled that he had been to the mountaintop. His words instill Hope and inspire Faith into the generations that bear witness by either being present to hear, those that were born, and to those yet to be born.
Some mountaintops are freely ours for the choosing, yet collectively, the world is a vast neighborhood, and we seek more.
My family’s generational doctrine of “Yes, Of Course You Can” triumphs above fear, discouragement and disillusionment. Promise have been kept. Promises have been received. Promises must be passed forward. There are no barriers on mountaintops, there are no barriers below them and there certainly are no barriers above them. There is rampant room for life, liberty and pursuit of happiness for ALL!
I owe a huge debt to those who sat, roared, spoke, silenced, listened, walked, sang and voted for me to live my life and future freely. What they did created a world of Inclusion. A world of equality, laws, and high standards of actions and reactions. I have no visions of grandeur, but I do know that selfishly I want to be the 1st African American to Skydive Mount Everest as partial repayment of that debt, and unselfishly, by making even the rarified mountaintops of Mount Everest a place of Inclusion.
As doors were opened for me to equally live my life, may my Birthday Adventure open the sky, and raise the roof, for Dreams to Live and Be Free to Fly!
